Botanicula is a delightful, if slightly narrow, point-and-click adventure game. Much like Machinarium and Samorost, its predecessors from Amanita Software , Botanicula is pure joy to unfold with numerous moments of wonder and good humor throughout. You play as a group of bugs trying to defend their home and seeds from a weird, evil spider thing but the gameplay is all classic one-screen adventure game puzzle-solving. Some parts can be a bit frustrating but you'll always want to continue to progress as the game rewards you with audio and visual gifts at nearly every turn. No surprise, then, that Botanicula's won several awards, including Audio, Animation, Story/World Design, GOTY, and the coveted European Adventure Game of the Year. A mobile version is apparently incoming for both iOS and Android but no release date has been provided. Best to experience it on a computer right now then, this is definitely a must-play.
Reasons You Might Like This
An easy to understand story (no dialogue) that goes down easily but continues to delight with great artistry at every turn.
You will have a smile across your face longer playing this game than pretty much anything else. The music is so good. The art is so good. Arghhhhhh. SO. GOOD.
Reasons You Might Not Like This
Honestly the only thing I can think of is that some people mistake earnest-and-happy art for overly-twee sometimes.
Also, some people don't like adventure games. Crazy people.
